Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Tuesday briefing.

Meetings watch

• The Clovis Municipal Schools board meets 5:30 p.m. today at the administration building.

• The Portales Municipal Schools Board of Education meets 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Portales Municipal Schools Administration Building.

The board plans to close out the 2010-2011 fiscal year budget.

Absentee voting

Today is the first day absentee ballots are available at the Clovis City Clerk’s office for the special city election Aug. 2.

Fast fact

Richard Nixon campaigned at Clovis High School in 1956, when he was running for re-election as vice president.
