Dr. Richard Layman has been practicing as an obstetrician in Clovis for 22 years.

He’s delivering babies for some of the same people he delivered. He took that as a hint. He’s decided it’s time to retire.

Layman, 61, said he enjoys practicing in a small town.

“It’s great being able to know your patients and being able to watch the babies I have delivered grow up,” he said.

Layman spent eight years in the Air Force and three in the Army.

Layman and his wife Marla and son Ty are an adventurous bunch who travel frequently. The trio have visited 17 cities and 18 states. Layman plans to continue traveling in his retirement.
