Greyhounds up 28-0 at halftime of season opener

Going into halftime, Eastern New Mexico University holds a 28-0 lead on New Mexico Highlands in a windy season opener at Greyhound Stadium.

The Greyhounds took advantage early with a pair of interceptions on the first two pass attempts Cowboys quarterback Emmanuel Lewis. Both led to touchdowns for a 16-0 lead 5:15 in the game. Eastern started the scoring with a a 27-yard Taylor Cannon field goal on its opening drive.

Darian Dale has accounted for a pair of touchdowns, a 3-yard pass from Wes Wood and a 45-yard trick play pass to Noelin Henry. Wood scored on sneaks for Eastern’s other two scores.

The Greyhounds are outgaining the Cowboys 234-143. There have been 212 penalty yards – 138 from the Cowboys.
