Volunteer call

Special Olympics New Mexico needs volunteers to help with a variety of tasks at the group’s Statewide Equestrian Competition Sept. 16-18 at the Curry County Events Center.

Crowder appointed

Gov. Susan Martinez has reappointed Clovis City Commissioner Randy Crowder to the Interstate Stream Commission.

Crowder is chairman of the Water Policy Advisory Committee for Clovis as well as vice chairman of the Ute Reservoir Water Commission.

Crowder also serves on the New Mexico North East Water Plan Task Force and the Ute Reservoir Master Plan Committee.

Free concert

The Blackwood Legacy concert is 7 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Second and Ave. C, in Portales.

This is a free concert and open to the public.
