Thursday morning briefing: Free art, a real classic and jail for a cause

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Thursday briefing:

Free art

A free solo exhibition, “Sleeping in the Forest, Waking in the Desert,” by Jessie Dodington will be displayed in ENMU’s Golden Library on Tuesday through Oct. 28 during normal library hours.

A real classic

The annual Milk Jug Classic is 8 a.m. Saturday at Clovis Community College.

It’s a 5k Fun Run/Walk to benefit the Clovis Wildcats Cross Country team.

Registration starts at 6:30 a.m.

Today in history

On this day in 2005, New York Times reporter Judith Miller is released from a federal detention center in Alexandria, Va., after agreeing to testify in the investigation into the leaking of the identity of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame.

Miller had been behind bars since July 6, 2005, for refusing to reveal a confidential source and testify before a grand jury that was looking into the so-called Plame Affair.
