Peanuts galore
Eastern New Mexico University is hosting the 38th annual Peanut Valley Festival on Saturday and Sunday in the Campus Union Building in Portales.
Entertainment by Mark Kelly, Andy Mason and Don Thomas, among others, will
be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be over 50 booths, including 10 food venders.
Business sense
There’s a Pre-Venture Seminar 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday at Clovis Community College’s Conference Room 151.
It’s a free seminar designed for potential entrepreneurs and all start-up business owners.

On this day in 1957, bible-school dropout Jerry Lee Lewis laid down the definitive version of “Great Balls Of Fire,” amidst a losing battle with his conscience and with the legendary Sam Phillips, head of Sun Records.
Hours into the “Great Balls Of Fire” session, Jerry Lee began arguing with Sam Phillips that the song was too sinful for him to record.
