The Boy Scouts annual Ten Commandments hike through Clovis is 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The hike is a cooperative effort between Scouts and various faith groups interested in promoting religious tolerance and knowledge of their faith, according to John Schonberger, a Clovis certified public accountant and scout leader.
The hike will take Scouts to churches or to meet church representatives throughout the city.
Each stop will last 20 minutes and a member of the clergy will explain the basic theological tenets of their religion and point out interesting architecture or historical aspects of their particular house of worship, according to Schonberger.
Churches and organizations participating in the hike include the 21st Street Church of Christ, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kingswood United Methodist Church, Central Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. James Episcopal Church, First Christian Church, the Salvation Army, Sacred Heart Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.
