Cannon Air Force Base is working to restore power from an outage on the base.
Lt. Stephanie Strine says base civil engineering crews are working on the problem and hope to restore power by 8 p.m. Thursday.
The base-wide outage hit at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Emergency power systems kicked on at critical facilities at the base.
“Without going into too many details,” Strine said, “we have backup plans to make sure the central mission of the base continues without the power grid.”
The exact cause of the outage is under investigation, but Strine says there is nothing suspicious about the cut in power.
