Reader-submitted content: Church holding service in honor of military

November 10, 2011

On Sunday, Americans will celebrate Armed Forces Day in churches all around the country.

It’s a day during which we give thanks to and salute our military men and women who are willing to endanger their own lives in order to guarantee the freedom that we Americans enjoy each and every day of our lives.

What a great day it would be if each one of us could personally thank every officer and enlisted person serving in the armed forces, but this is not possible.

To honor our area military and veterans on Armed Forces Day, a special order of praise and thanksgiving will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at The Chapel, 1500 N. Thornton St., in Clovis. The anthems of each branch of military service will be featured.

During the singing, current military members and veterans will be asked to stand and be honored while their anthem is played.

Members of the community are welcome to attend, sing praises, pray for our brave military and give thanks to our veterans who have served.

For additional information, call: Rev. Elwood Anderson at 505-990-3546 or 505-280-6665 or e-mail:
