The Portales Rotary Club played host to children and houseparents from both the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home and the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home for a day at Casel-Land Fun Center in Clovis on Oct. 15.
The club’s sponsorship allowed everyone to try their luck in the batting cages, on the miniature golf course and on the go-cart track.
Rotarians put on a cookout at noon for the group.
“There were many smiles on a lot of deserving faces, and the rewards for this event were realized not only by the kids but also staff from the homes and the participating members of the club as well,” said Rotary President Chris Wood. “I was very impressed by the respect and attitudes of the kids, and almost all came up to the club members and thanked us personally. We hope to make this an annual event for the kids.”
Each year the homes also invite club members to their holiday programs.
