Roosevelt County Extension
The Roosevelt County Council of the Extension Association of New Mexico met Nov. 7.
A roll call showed a total of 10 members present from the Bethel Chapter, Causey Chapter, Pep and 9 to 5 chapters in attendance.
There were no guests in attendance. Connie Moyer the home economist was also in attendance.
A devotional was given by Dottie Lee of the 9 to 5 Chapter.
Lou Sikes and Marilyn Gardner were elected president and vice president for the 2012 year.
The Christmas Luncheon will be Dec. 3. A meal will be furnished. Each club is asked to bring a door prize. The theme will be “Wreathon for the Season.” There will be an ornament exchange at the luncheon for those attending they are asked to being an ornament to exchange. If you are interested call Sherry Best at the extension office. There will be several car pools driving to Causey.
Altrusa
of Portales
Altrusa International, Inc. Club of Portales met on Monday, November 28th at noon in the Central Annex.
President Gaynelle Thomas called the meeting to order. There were 23 members present and one guest. Judy Piepkorn led the opening ceremonies. Piepkorn drew for the Queen of Hearts. Lori Bohn gave the Altrusa Accent, and secret pals were thanked.
Dannah Brown and Linda Davis gave an update on Holiday Happening. The President asked members to bring gift items to the December meeting to be donated to the general store at Heartland Nursing Home. Members were also reminded to bring a gift for their secret pal, or to bring a gift for exchange. Sue Bracksieck announced plans for the club’s Christmas party on December 12th.
Pat Willis introduced State Representative, Dennis Roch, who is also the assistant superintendent of Texico schools. He talked about literacy. Willis presented him with a certificate of appreciation.

Curry County Extension Clubs
The Curry County Extension Clubs held their annual banquet on Nov. 17 at Kingswood United Methodist Church with 38 members attending.
Helen Casaus was mistress of ceremonies and introduced the outgoing and incoming council officers.
The Just Us Club was responsible for the program and Nite Owls Club decorated with a fall theme.
Ann Carter installed new council officers: President Sheryl Abdill and Treasurer Suzy Powell.
Abdil presented Glenda Belcher the home economist, J.J Driever and Rita Hutchins, extension secretaries, and Jena Rush, program assistant, with thank you gifts.
The program “If the Shoe Fits” was presented by Cleta Balckburn in the absence of Carol Moore who had prepared the program.
Sheryl presented checks to Grady Alpha, Home at Heart and Just Us Clubs for having the most new members.

Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary
The Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary Executive Committee met Nov. 6 in the conference room of the Hospital. President Sid Phillips called the meeting to order with the reading of the Auxiliary Prayer.
Phillips introduced Amber Hamilton, our liaison with RGH, who attended the meeting. Hamilton announced that the Fun Committee of RGH will sponsor a Christmas door decorating contest. She asked the auxiliary to do the judging which will be sometime Dec. 5.
The hospital website is functioning and is www.RGH.org. The auxiliary application for membership form will be on the wedsite in hopes to increase new members in the auxiliary.
The auxiliary will have a mini-bake sale/excellent white elephant sale Dec. 9 form 9 a.m. to noon at Heartland. There are a number of boxes of Christmas items and a collection of cat items from life member Millie Lees. .
There will be no meeting in December.
Llano Estacado Quilt Guild
The regular meeting of the Llano Estacado Quilt Guild was called to order by President Amy Armenta at Trinity Lutheran Church on Nov. 19.
There were 14 members present with one guest, Ed McGee, and one new member, Rita Zapata. Pastor Bonita Knox also joined us.
Kits were given out for the Home of The Brave project and Amy reported that to date, 40 quilts have been sent to fallen heros families.
The quilt for the Hartley House fund raiser in February is also being completed. The guild donates quilts to the Hartley House on a regualr basis as well as to Vista Care.
New officers for 2012-2014 are President Char Montgomery, Secretary Katie Greene, Vice President Casey McGee, Treasurer Leigh Reynolds.
Kathy Gilman presented the program: Quick and easy gift ideas for Christmas giving. Kathy had the items present with patterns and directions for making them.
A wonderful potluck meal followed. The next guild meeting will be Jan. 9
