Gifts for kids
The Lighthouse Mission needs donations for its annual Childrens Christmas Celebration.
They need toys, apples, oranges, peanuts, canned soda and bags of individually wrapped candy.
Donations can be dropped off at the mission, 407 La Casillas Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Deadline is Dec. 15.

Music, music, music
Eastern New Mexico University will host a Steel Band performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building in Portales.
The repertoire includes calypso and other Caribbean styles along with jazz and pop-influenced music.
The event is free and open to the public.
