District 1 City Commissioner Randy Crowder has announced he will run for re-election.
Crowder, 61, is a self-employed general contractor who has held his seat since 2004, said he feels he still has some things he’d like to see through as a commissioner.
He served as mayor pro tem from 2006-2010, and served on the New Mexico Northeast Regional Water Plan Task Force and Ute Reservoir Master Plan Committee. He is a chairman for the city’s water policy advisory commission and a commissioner on the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission. He previously served as vice chair of the Ute Reservoir Water Commission, and is a former member of the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority.
Crowder is the first candidate to announce his election intentions for any of the municipal races.
The March 6 election will include the mayor’s race, one race for each commission district and a ballot issue to amend the city charter to bar dual service on city and county commissions.
