Tuesday morning briefing: Country music and a midlife crisis solved.

Good morning, and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Tuesday morning briefing.

Write-in day:
Today is the only day for write-in candidates to declare their intention to seek office in March 6 municipal elections. Write-ins will not appear on the ballot, but they will receive credit for any votes they do receive on election day.

Local music update: Reporter Kevin Wilson notes that he had a Q&A Monday afternoon with Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys. They’re performing Friday at the Curry County Events Center. Tickets are $20 and $35. Look for the Q&A later this week.

Corvette debuts: On this day in 1953, a prototype Chevrolet Corvette sports car makes its debut at General Motors’ (GM) Motorama auto show at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. The Corvette, named for a fast type of naval warship, would eventually become an iconic American muscle car and remains in production today.

Today’s weather: Courtesy of KVII’s Shelly Sites, “Expect a pretty pronounced difference in today’s weather from yesterday’s. For one, it will be much cooler with highs in the lower 40s. Winds will also be much lighter!”
