Last time out: The Cardinals posted a 63-53 victory over West Texas A&M on Thursday at Canyon, Texas. The Greyhounds erased a 13-point, second-half deficit to edge Texas A&M-Kingsville 60-56 on Thursday at Greyhound Arena.
Last meeting: UIW beat ENMU 85-70 at San Antonio on Dec. 3.
Of note: The Cardinals come in sporting a five-game winning streak since a Dec. 29 overtime loss to St. Mary’s. … UIW is 5-4 on the road this season. … Leading scorers for the Cardinals are 6-7 senior F Chris Johnson (12.8 ppg), 6-3 senior G Shaun Umeh (12.2) and 6-4 junior forward Dionelle Rucker (11.4). Johnson leads the team with 8.5 rpg and shoots 82 percent from the FT line while Rucker, who has come off the bench in 13 of the 18 games, is shooting 61 percent from the floor.

Last meeting: UIW routed the Zias 61-41 at San Antonio on Dec. 3.
Of note: The Cardinals are second in the LSC in team defense, allowing just over 57 ppg. … Leading scorers are 5-6 junior G Katy Cooke (12.1 ppg), 5-9 sophomore G/F Ifunanya Mora (11.3) and 5-7 junior G Ashlyn Green (10.6). Cooke has 62 assists and is shooting 89 percent (56-of-63) from the FT line. … The primary starters account for 84 percent of the Cardinals’ scoring. … UIW has lost seven of 11 after a 6-1 start. … Cardinals coach Angela Lawson helped Louisiana Tech win an NCAA Division I championship as a senior in 1988 and was a grad assistant on Tennessee’s 1990 national championship team. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Southwest Texas State and Baylor before taking her first head coaching position at UIW in 2000.
