Caleb Chandler said Tuesday he won’t be seeking re-election as a county commissioner.

Chandler made his announcement near the start of the commission’s monthly meeting. He said he wanted to make the announcement before the March 20 filing date for candidates seeking his seat — one of three commission seats open in the November general election.

Commission seats held by Chairman Wendell Bostwick and Commissioner Dan Stoddard are also up for grabs in the election.

After the meeting, Chandler said he had no plans to seek any other elective office. He said his plan was to enjoy retirement by spending as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren.

Chandler is a former Clovis police chief, state senator and magistrate judge.
