Wednesday morning briefing: A dedication, sharing history and seaweed ice cream

Good morning and welcome to the Wednesday briefing.

Dedication set

Ready for the unveiling?

The Clovis Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, in partnership with the Clovis Curry County Chamber of Commerce will unveil a Coretta Scott King Memorial Bronze Plaque 11 a.m. Friday at Potter Park,.

It’s open to the public.

Brenda Crocker of Fort Sumner offers this to anyone interested:

“Every now and then I see stories of World War ll. They are usually to tell us that there are few left who lived through it. My daughter’s dad left her an old photo album from his deployment with the Navy there. If there are folks who would like to look at it we would be happy to share. (there are two pics of nude women but I guess that may have been all that kept some of them fighting for our freedom).”

You can contact Crocker at 575-355-9179.

It’s a fact

Carrageenan, a common ingredient in ice cream and toothpaste, is seaweed. It’s used as a suspending agent in foods, pharmaceuticals and liquids, as a clarifying agent for beverages, and in controlling crystal growth in frozen confections.
