Firefighters Wil Jones, left, and Chad Healer organize $1,600 worth of candy that was purchased with donations to the Clovis Fire Department. The candy will be passed out to trick-or-treaters at each fire station tonight.

Local firefighters are getting into the Halloween spirit with the Clovis Fire Department’s annual trick-or-treat event.

According to Chad Healer, public education coordinator for CFD, monetary donations are given by local American Legions and VFWs each year and a large candy purchase is made.

Candy is then passed out to local trick-or-treaters at each Clovis fire station on Halloween night.

Healer said $1,600 was collected this year, and several bags of candy were donated by community members.

“It’s an attempt to keep the kids from going door to door and being unsafe,” he said. “They can come to each fire station and get candy.”
