ENMU staff receive awards

Members of Eastern New Mexico University’s Communication Services received awards recently for their work in media publications.

Desiree M. Cooper, new media coordinator at ENMU, received her third consecutive Doris Gregory Scholarship, worth $750, at the New Mexico Press Women (NMPW) State Conference at the Bosque Retreat last weekend in Albuquerque. She was also selected to serve as the new NMPW scholarship chair.

Wendel Sloan, director of media relations, won second place in NMPW’s state-wide communications contest in the category of “Photo Essays” for “The Shoes of Graduation” in the Greyhound Gazette online campus newsletter.

Sloan, also a local Sunday columnist for the Clovis News-Journal and Portales News-Tribune, won first-place and second-place awards in “Humor Columns” and “General Columns.”
